prApp is intended as a fun way for parkrunners to visualise their progress.
Frequently Asked Questions:
prApp uses publically available data produced by parkrun. The data shown on prApp is usually updated weekly, generally in the early hours of Sunday morning once most events have uploaded results.
Data held by prApp is only a snapshot of a moment in time. Data is usually updated on Sunday morning (GMT) when most global parkrun results will have been added. However, there will always be some results that are added late or changed during the week, so you may notice descrepancies in the figures provided.
Data is obtained from parkrun on a weekly basis as this is sufficient to provide a generalised overview of results. Frequent automated data retrieval would place an unnecessary strain on parkrun servers and is not permitted.
By 'all runners' we mean the total number of individual barcodes that have been used to record at least one run. 'All volunteers' means the total number of individual barcodes that have received at least one volunteer credit.
This is an assumption made for the purposes of simplicity. Occasionally it might be possible to acheive more than one run in a week (e.g. when extra parkruns are held at Christmas and other occasions). Many people also volunteer twice a week (or occasionally more) if they help at junior parkrun on a Sunday. If you reach your milestone before the estimated date then well done!
This is compiled from a number of sources, with the aim of providing an interesting and varied set of comparitive distances. Distance comparisons are approximate and are usually rounded up to the nearest 5km, but sources can vary and you may find different figures elsewhere. However, if you think any data comparisons are particularly inaccurate, then please let us know.
It is planned to include this scenario in a future update. In particular, we plan to add the option to include two volunteer credits in a single week to account for the common occurrence that an individual may volunteer at both the 5k parkrun on a Saturday and junior parkrun on a Sunday.
